The dentist/orthodontist reappoints the patient for the treatment plan, provided that all diagnostic materials are present(cast impressions, panoramic and cephalometric x-rays, photographs) because he:
1. has to study and measure the teeth in your cast(model cast impression) and classify the malocclusion that you have, then measure if you need to gain space or remove the spaces.
2. the panoramic xray needs to be analysed and checked for unerupted teeth, position of the roots, and to check for any anomalies in the bones.
3. The cephalometric x-ray is traced and the certain angulations of teeth and bones and soft tissue are analyzed for him to properly classify the malocclussion and the skeletal condition of the patient. and also the frontal angulation of the teeth corresponding to the facial profile. it is also one of the most important tool in treatmnet planning.
4 the photos are for soft tissue analysis like theS-line and the protrusion ot retrusion of the face, the relationship of the teeth to the face, etc.
Then the data will be combined and analyzed and this is where the treatment plan is going to be decided.
The treatment plan:
1. he will tell you the treatment goals (improve the profile and esthertics, bone growth etc.)
2, he will tell your the treatment mechanics ( brackets to be used, appliances to be used)
3. then the length of the procedures
4. house rules, and fees
5. you will be asked to sign a consent for(if you are under 18, then by the parent or guardian)
