If you care for yourself VERY carefully, you should be well enough to swing the concert. But I seriously suggest you guys' getting a backup to take over your part.

My wisdom tooth recovery was a total nightmare, but its different for everybody. I know people who were up and going two days after getting them pulled out. I was bedridden for two weeks. What it comes down to is how carefully and closely you follow the "After Care" pamphlet that your oral surgeon will give you before your surgery. FOLLOW THOSE INSTRUCTIONS TO A T!! And ask your parents to have everything set up for you for when you get home because you will feel like total ****. You'll need your bed fully equipped for sleeping, a pencil/pad 'cause its gonna hurt to talk for the first few hours, and a ton of gauze.

DO NOT DRINK ANY HOT LIQUID ON THE FIRST DAY! Trust me, I came home and sucked down two pots of broth...god it was awful. also, be EXTREMELY careful when you replace the gauze you're gonna be chewing on. If you pull out a blood clot, you'll get dry socket like I had and your concert appearance will most definitely be ruined. The best thing you can do once you get home is to get into bed and sleep. also, stick to your vicodin/pain killer plan religiously. It also might help to have a injured-mouth friendly food in your room. I woke up every day at 5am in a lot of pain, but you can't take those strong painkillers on an empty stomach, so I would just snack on a few servings of applesauce (thats REALLY friendly, I highly recommend it!), take the meds, then go back to sleep.

Get as much rest as you possibly can, and if all goes well, you will be able to perform. Good luck, I hope that your recovery goes a lot better than mine did! <3 And let us know if you got to perform or not! Will cheer for you. Health Question & Answer

I had all four wisdom teeth pulled 2 years ago and the procedure went really well- no issues. I was well enough to eat in 3-4 days but the surgeon said that any strenuous activity (anything with a lot of blowing...like wind instruments) should not happen for a couple weeks-- not until the holes are healed. A week after you get your teeth pulled, you'll have an appointment to get your stitches removed and just for a general check on your progress. Before that appointment, forget it...you are way too susceptible to pain and even worse, infection.

This probably sounds really bad given that you have this huge concert, but the last thing you want to do is aggravate your teeth/gums. Remember, this is a surgery; if you had knee surgery, would you play in a soccer tournament a week later.? Probably not.Health Question & Answer
