Are there any tough and lasting toothbrushes?!

Question: Are there any tough and lasting toothbrushes.?
Okay, so my problem is I need a new toothbrush every month. I brush three times a day usually and after a few weeks my toothbrushes get really frayed and worn out. I do brush relatively hard but if I don't then I'll feel like my teeth aren't clean enough and it will bug me.

I don't like having to buy a new toothbrush every month, not only is it expensive but we're only advised to change toothbrushes 2-3 times a year! So is there a strong toothbrush I can buy that will last me a while and won't fray.?Health Question & Answer

This may sound a little strange but if your going through toothbrushes that fast you may need to adjust your technique a little bit. Brushing should be done with a soft toothbrush, unless directed to do otherwise by your dentist. Brush with softer strokes and less pressure, if you feel like your not getting all the plaque off of the surface of your teeth make sure your brushing for the full two minutes. You may also find it cost efficient to by an electric toothbrush, as they take most of the guess work out of brushing for you, and it will save you money on buying new toothbrushes every month and on having to get your teeth fixed from brushing too hard :) If you have any questions please feel free to email me. Good luck with whatever you decide, and take care!Health Question & Answer

You are brushing too hard! All toothbrushes are basically the same. You need to change them every 3 months. If you notice that quickly the bristles are bent too much then you are brushing too hard!
You need to barely apply pressure when brushing. Go slow and use circular motions. Pretend you are brushing the teeth of a small child and you dont want to hurt them. So brush so gently.
Brushing teeth is not like scrubbing a floor.
The purpose of the toothbrush is to pull off loose plaque (bacteria) on your teeth. it doesnt take any pressure to pull off this loose plaque.Health Question & Answer

If it didn't fray out, then you'd be doing damage to your teeth and gums. For my patients that have this problem (or my own family), I offer to order a case of cheap toothbrushes. They run $60- 80 bucks for 144 brushes. Then I let my family destroy them without worrying about the expense! See if your dentist is willing to do this for you. The big name brushes are much more expensive without mush more benefit. Otherwise, I'd check out a dollar store near you for toothbrushes.Health Question & Answer
