im gettin braces for an overbite in january n im really really scared ppl ave sed they really hurt and dey make u look lyk a nerd.?.?.? im doomed!!! n wat sort of braces do u think i will have cuz they avent told me will it hurt i mean will they stick loads of pin and needles into my teeth.?.?.? pls helpHealth Question & Answer

You shouldn't be scared, its annoying to sit there for like the two hours it takes but it doesn't hurt when your getting them on, its hurts later that day and for a few days after, its more like an ache though and every time you get them tightened you get aches. You will more then likely have normal braces.? Ive never seen any other kind but the metal ones unless your getting the see through kind but you would know, thats like a whole different set up. And NO, they will stick NO needles or pins into your teeth that's ridiculous. Eventually you'll get over the pain and every time you get them tightened it wont hurt anymore. You'll be fine, i was.
P.S and for the nerd thing, you shouldnt care what ppl think but believe it or not alot of boys think its cute. So yea you'll be fine.
and also some tips after an adjustment (after you get them on and everytime you get them tigtened) take some tylenol before eating, and I eat small stuffed pasta which I can cut up and always chew with my molars because I find most of the pressure's in the front teeth. I also have thick smoothies which are healthy and filling. After a couple of days you just go back to normal, so it's no problem for just a few days.(:Health Question & Answer

im getting braces in Jan to. They dnt make u look nerdy (unless ur wearing thick framed glasses) My friend told me they hurt for the first few days, but after that barely anything. In Australia, some orthodontist use the new design of braces and some use the old, so i cant help u there!Health Question & Answer
Well getting braces will not make you look like a nerd... dont worry... people now a days accept braces as a stage of making your self look better (esthetically)... not all can afford braces... well as a dentist i suggest do DAMON system its less painful, less dentist appointment, faster result, and better outcome... trust me i know what im talking about...
