Hi my Chihuahua is 10mon. now, at 9mon she was 11lbs. she would eat anything, now she dosn't want to eat at all. I feel like since I gave her the last heartworm pill she stopped eating. But she is also getting new teeth. She still plays and is Happy when she goes BYEBYE,, Do you think I should be concerned. I don't want to take her to the doc for nothing,just don't know what to do. I gave her some cooked chicken, she ate that and she will eat treats, but she can't live on treats. Any ideas would help.Health Question & Answer

Well, what kind of food has she stopped eating.? Dry (hard) puppy food.? If so, she probably stopped eating it for now because they're too hard for her and her mouth probably hurts because of the teething. If you don't have any, try getting your puppy some wet food for now until her teeth come in. Or, if that's not an option, mix a little warm water in her dry food to soften it up and make it easier for her to eat. If that still doesn't help, maybe she's just turning into a picky eater.? Try getting a small can or bag of a different brand/flavor of food and see if she eats that.
I know that the vet can be pretty expensive, but go with your gut. The fact that she's still playing around and accepted the cooked chicken is a very good thing; that leaves me to believe that she probably stopped eating because her mouth hurts. But if you feel that something is wrong with her or if you're observing weird behavior, take to her to the vet to be checked out. Better safe than sorry.

Maybe her stomach is just a little fussy right now. She still eats the chicken, so keep giving her that for now. She is also not constipated, her energy level is good an she's not congested or snoring so she probably has no allergies. Wait it out for another week.Health Question & Answer
