I had my wisdom teeth pulled 5 days ago. My face is still swollen and in pain. Is this normal?!
Question: I had my wisdom teeth pulled 5 days ago. My face is still swollen and in pain. Is this normal.?
I was told having my wisdom teeth pulled would be relatively simple, and that I would be eating normal food within 3 days or so. That's how it was for my brothers.
5 days later, my face is still swollen, and I still have a throbbing pain in the back of my mouth. I did all the procedures correctly (Ice packs, suck on ice chips, salt water, etc..). I took my antibiotics on time every day, so I don't think it's an infection.
The incision site feels like its almost healed, but when I try to chew something soft, like cottage cheese, it still hurts, and I have to just moosh it with my tongue against the top of my mouth.
Has anyone else ever experienced this.? I had all 4 teeth pulled at once, if that matters. Does anyone know what I can do to alleviate the pain and swelling.? I REALLY want to eat normal foods again..Health Question & Answer

Yes I have been there. Sounds like you have a dry socket.Need to go back so they can clean and pack the area with medicated gauze. Ask for some pain medicine tooHealth Question & Answer
