Question: Does orbit sugarless gum ACTUALLY help fight cavities by making teeth strong as it says on the box. .?
Just wondering. I know it isn't a replacement for a nice long brush, but i chew it a lot so i was just wondering if it actually had that affect on my teeth.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
It doesn't build stronger teeth, but the xylitol in some sugar free gum is poisonous to bacteria, which produce acid which erodes tooth enamel.

The chewing action also cleans crud off your teeth, coating them with poisonous (to bacteria) xylitol. Your teeth are now free to very slowly rebuild their own enamel.Health Question & Answer

Chewing helps to increase your saliva, which helps to neutralize any acids in your mouth. If the gum contains Xylitol as one of it's sugars, then it actually is helping to reduce your chances of cavities. Xylitol is a sugar derivative that actually has anti-bacterial properties.Health Question & Answer

mostly what's happening is your saliva builds up from the chewing and the saliva breaks down plaque on the teeth.
technically it works but only really insignificantly.
also, sugary foods will rot your teeth, which is the reason it's sugarless.

i don't see how the burping thing is true. whoever told you that was lying..Health Question & Answer

I think the theory behind this is that the increase in saliva production when you chew gum helps protect you from cavities, not the gum itself.Health Question & Answer
