Tooth just broke in two!?!

Question: Tooth just broke in two!.?
okay, so i am not a specialist, but this is what happend

i had a root canal done on a tooth a few years ago. then i guess i had a filler, and there was still a hole in my tooth, i could feel it with my tongue and food would sometimes get stuck. ( i floss every nite, so it was always clean)

but today, i was eating, and my tooth just split. and now i can wiggle it. and above it, on my gum, there a lump. sorta painful when i touch it..
i left a message with my dentist. but can i still eat tonite.? do i floss.?.? is it dangerous it falls off.?Health Question & Answer

Get to a dentist. It is absessing. And you will probably lose the tooth.

When you have a root canal - it weakens the tooth. Any crack or pit in that tooth can't be cleaned very well with brushing or floss. This happened to me. I had a root canal while on vacation in Hawaii. They did a bad job and cracked 1 of the roots. When I got home I saw my regular dentist - who root canaled it again. Still not better - went to and endodontist - twice - and still never got better (pain). So I had to have it pulled. And then I had to have a BRIDGE - so 2 teeth one either side of the lost tooth had to be crowned and a fake tooth in the spot where I lost the tooth. VERY VERY EXPENSIVE - $2500 all total.

They can't just crown the cracked tooth - because there probably isn't enough there to crown.

See your dentist ~ they will advise you what is best. Good luck.Health Question & Answer
