Question: I just got my braces off, and I have a couple of questions....?
I just got my braces off, and there's two things I have questions about:
1. My gums are puffy. They weren't until I got the braces off. Is this supposed to happen.? If it is, what can I do to make them go back down to their normal size.?
2. I'M TALKING WITH A LISP. I got a top and bottom retainer, and I can't talk with them on!!! how long until this lisp wears off.?.?Health Question & Answer

I got mine off a few weeks ago. I had puffy gums right after too. It sort of felt like i had gum shoved in my cheek. But after about a week the swelling will start to go away. As for your lisp it will go away in a few days if you wear it all the time. You only get used to it if you wear it.Health Question & Answer
I have top and bottom plastic retainers which i wear only at night, and they still cause me to speak with a lisp, i'm not sure if this will go away. I also have a wire retainer (permanent) on the bottom teeth, and i spoke with a lisp because of this for a few days, but then it went. As for the gums, see your dentist, and brush your teeth well, but gently.

your gums are puffy because there tender so just take a soft bristle toothbrush and just brush your gums not your teeth just your gums.
because your gums are like muscles, so if you don't work them out they will become sensitive lol
and your lisp you just have to get use to the retainer and it will go away but you might always have a lil lispHealth Question & Answer

1: yeah it's supposed to happen because your gums have to adjust to the shape of your teeth
2:If you talk with a lisp maybe you should go to the dentist and ask if the retainer is your right size....because maybe it's not.Health Question & Answer
