How to avoid bad breath?!

Question: How to avoid bad breath.?
please recommend a good toothpaste or other methodHealth Question & Answer

Answers:
Don't use listerine, it can make things worse.

Check with a dentist to see if you have tooth decay or periodontal disease. The state of your gums is important.

If you haven't already, try stepping up your oral hygiene routine. In addition to brushing and flossing, scrape your tongue with a tongue scraper. Most of the offensive odors are often concentrated on the back of the tongue ... you might see a white or gray layer back there ... so work on cleaning that area.

How's your overall health.? If it's really out of balance and you overconsume caffeine / sugar / alcohol / junk food, cleaning that up that can help.

If none of these work there are more steps you can take to resolve the problem, but avoid regular mouthwashes which are loaded with alcohol (makes it worse) and regular breath mints because the sugar contributes to tooth decay AND bad breath. Look for xylitol mints if you want mints, but avoid the ones that have sugar or aspartame (many xylitol mints sneak these in because they're cheaper).Health Question & Answer

May I start by explaining to you that your teeth are not the major source of bad breath, the top of the tongue is the main source. So, you can brush with any toothpaste and it will not cure the bad breath on the top of the tongue. Good oral hygiene includes brushing and flossing the teeth and cleaning the top of the tongue. Use a tongue cleaner that has both a brush and a scraper so the bacteria and food that hides down deep in the indentations of the tongue will be removed. I use Crest Pro-Health and just whatever kind of mouthwash I can get, usually Pro-Health as well though. The simple fact is, you are probably going to have massive dragon breath in the morning no matter what you do, but bad breath is the result of serious plaque buildup or poor dental highgene.

Follow these steps to a fresher tomorrow!

1.) Use mouth wash BEFORE you brush (This will loosen up any buildups on your teeth and gums, make the brushing process easier.)

2.) Brush your teeth every morning and every night (with Crest Pro-Health)

3.) If you are really having problems, use mouth wash again after brushing.

4.) Keep regular dental checkups, if possible.Health Question & Answer

its not the toothpaste, its how you brush your teeth. you should brush all the surfaces of your teeth for at least two minutes, twice a day at least. flossing and using a mouthwash will help too. the floss cleans bits the brush can't reach, and the mouthwash kills germs instead of just removing them. an electric toothbrush is the easiest way of cleaning your teeth thoroughlyHealth Question & Answer
