My sons growing in extra teeth?!
Question: My sons growing in extra teeth.?
My son who just turned 2 in december has had 20 teeth since he was about 15 months old. I was checking out his teeth (i occasionally do to make sure im brushing them good and theyre in good shape) and i can see more molars growing in behind his two year molars. What teeth could he be getting in.? Is this normal.? Hes always been in the 99% for growth as far as height weight and how quickly his teeth grow in. I just wanted to know whats going on. I thought 2 year molars were it for a few years. He had 16 teeth by 11 months too. Thanks for your help!!!Health Question & Answer

Normally children only have 20 teeth until about age 5 or 6. Are you positive you're counting them right. On each arch (top and bottom) he should have 4 small incisors in the front. Then a canine (pointy tooth) on each side of the incisors. Then 2 molars on each side.
If he has more than that I honestly don't know what answer to give you. I can't imagine he's getting his 6 year molars at 2 years old. You can take him to see a pediatric dentist, but I doubt that it is a problem and they would probably not do anything.Health Question & Answer
