My friend has geographic tongue. and she is freaking out because she thinks hers is going to end up looking like this: [WARNING: ITS REALLY GROSS]

can geographic turn that bad ordinarily.?


also is there anything she can't eat
or anything to help it.. not be so noticable.. or to go away

She should brush her tongue well. The tongue in the picture had a lot of plaque on it, which makes it look nasty. Spicy or citrus foods can make it more noticeable and can cause a burning sensation. It is nothing to be worried about, completely normal.Health Question & Answer

Geographic tongue is caused by malnutrition mainly deficiencies in B vitamins. Even if she is eating fairly well she could be low in stomach acid and not absorbing nutrients. She should take a high dose B complex vitamin split up throughout the day and possibly a Betaine HCL supplement for stomach acid. I have cleared up my G. tongue this way.

Geographic tongue is not curable but he has to keep the tongue clean so that further infection because of food impaction is not there. Normally geographic tongue does not create any problem. Its an anomaly...it doesn't meant that there is anything wrong with it. It will cause her no harm. Some people just have it. I see it all the time...if you were to look at it a week later you would notice that the lines in the tongue have changed. I think its really cool.
