I got all 4 pulled about 3 months ago....sure it was painful after wards, but trust me, if you do exactly what the doc says, you will be fine. No straws (sucking causes you to pull the blood clot out) use plenty of gauze the first day to stop bleeding. i ate a ton of soup (V8 soups are good) also, I went through milkshakes like crazy ha ha. Quite honestly, don;t worry about eating super healthy right now, just eat what makes you comfortable. My cavities (holes from the teeth) aren't completely gone yet, but they don't bother me at all. You only have to worry about dry sockets for the first week max. Protein shakes were nice because they fill you up. Yogurt, applesauce, mashed potatoes, scramble eggs when you feel confident. Just sleep, read magazines, books, watch some shows, DO NOT RAISE YOUR HEART RATE..running, jogging, lifting anything ETC. You can still walk around, go to a store if someone is driving ETC...just relax, it wil be fine. I didn;t have a dry socket, and never came close..just follow the rules..you will be okayHealth Question & Answer

Dry sockets tend to be more prominent in cases where your extractions were significantly difficult. If your extraction went smoothly and was pretty routine I wouldn't worry.

I've had 4 teeth pulled out for braces, as well as my wisdom teeth. I can eat normal food fine except sometimes food can get stuck in the little grooves that the extraction creates within your gums. (Gross I know, sorry hah.) The pain is normal and will last a couple of days.Health Question & Answer

I was the same way about fear of dry sockets. As long as you follow the instructions you should be fine. The biggest things to watch out for are...

Straws- dont use one for a week
Smoking- dont smoke for a week
Spiting- try not to spit if you can help it. When brushing teeth, rinsing w/ salt water, etc just open your mouth and let the fluid "fall out".
Starting the 2nd day rinse with warm salt water throughout the day. This speeds up healing and the faster they heal the less youll have to worry.

Good Luck and try not to worry!!Health Question & Answer

check out this website it gives some tips on how to prevent it http://www.atlantadentist.com/Wisdom_Too...

dont be nervous, i had mine pulled and they were fine. just make sure that (not now but soon) and you feel its ok to floss back there, you loop the floss behind your last back tooth and get in those grooves so that food doesnt get stuck . for wks after mine there was a hole but it didnt hurt but it was annoying food kept getting stuck so i used a toothpick .. try and use floss tho toothpicks arent such a bright idea lol good luckHealth Question & Answer

I've had all 4 wisdom teeth taken out at the same time. Take the pain medication the dentist prescribed or extra strength Tylenol, eat soft foods, no seeds on hamburger buns and when drinking DO NOT use a straw. That's all I did and I was fine in about a week.Health Question & Answer

NO STRAWS, CARBINATION, or SMOKING!!! And you should be fine. Hope you have a speedy recovery.Health Question & Answer
