I am in so much pain?!

Question: I am in so much pain.?
I have a really bad tooth and I am getting it surgerly remove in about 10 days. They can't get my in earlier. The problem is about 3 days ago, the pain started gettting tons worst. I think its because the tooth has a crack in it that is getting larger, and larger. I've been taking old pain killers, but I am going to run out soon. The pain is so bad, that I have to curl in a ball and meditate till the pain killer kicks in.. and takes some of the pain away. The thing is, the pain killers won't last that much longer and I don't have a "main" dentist to ask for more.. so I don't know what to do. I can't function when I am in that much pain.Health Question & Answer

You probably have an infection in the tooth, and that can spread to your bloodstream and be very dangerous. You need to be seen by a dentist ASAP, and probably given antibiotics as well as pain meds!Health Question & Answer

You need to get onto the dentist or hospital, go there in person, and ask if you can have the surgery removed earlier, or some more effective pain relief, because it sounds to me like you might have an infection.

It probably won't help if your tooth is really at this stage, but you could try going to the pharmacy and asking for some Oil of Cloves. Just dab a little of this on your gum. It is nasty smelling stuff, and will make you salivate a lot (you will need a clean hanky), but after a few seconds it may take some of the pain away.Health Question & Answer

WHY WONT A DENTIST GIVE YOU PAIN MEDICATION OVER THE PHONE.?
Dentists are common targets for "drug seekers" calling in the middle of the night begging for narcotics because they are in so much pain. Because of this history of abuse, dentists rarely give out prescriptions over the phone (unless your dentist knows you, ie: you are a regular patient of theirs).

WHAT CAN YOU DO.?
1) go to an emergency room. They may prescribe some pain killers. However, in my experience even the most powerful pain killers don't stop EXTREME dental pain.
2) go to your dentist tomorrow. Dentists always leave a little room in their schedule for emergencies. You have an emergency, so call to find out where they can squeeze you in tomorrow.
3) if your physician says its okay, you can try ibuprfen 800 mg. The higher dose allows more of an anti-inflammatory action which helps some dental pain.Health Question & Answer

You need to let your dentist know that. The pain would only worsen if you don't get help faster. Call the local dentist to let them know that you don't have a main dentist.

Besides, try to message your head when the pain starts. Meditation would not really help. Have you try the full strength ALEVE.?

The main thing is your tooth is too bad that needs an immediate extraction. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

go to the hospital so they can give you a prescription for antibiotics. the antibiotics will clear the infection that is causing the pain. some supermarkets are givin antibiotics away for free if it is the most common basically generic. but make sure the antibiotics you get is on the free list. only certain antibiotics are free.Health Question & Answer
