The process of getting them put on is not painful but a few hours afterwards, your mouth will start to feel sore from all the pressure they are putting on your teeth. Some people have worse pain than others. I know people who were just a little sensitive when they ate for a couple of days. With me, I had it worse. It was like having a really bad headache in my head, neck, jaw, and teeth and tylenol/advil did absolutely nothing for me. The bad pain lasted a few days, but I still couldn't eat solid foods for about 2 weeks afterwards.
With brushing, it did hurt me so I had to just be really gentle and slow and I couldn't floss for a few days cuz that hurt way too much.
I would definately suggest eating a large meal before you get them on because if you don't, you will be really hungry later on and not able to eat anything but mushy stuff.
I don't want to scare you, I just remember everyone telling me it wouldn't be that bad and it would only last a couple of days and then I was completely unprepared for my experience. But as I said, everyone is different and it seems like I was probably more sensitive than most. also I am 23 so maybe it hurt me more because I am done growing already.Health Question & Answer

yes they are sore,but don't worry!the pain will subside after 2-4 days,depending on your teeth.it feels like you got bruises in them...but me, i took pain relievers so it didnt hurt as much,when you brush them,it's best if you brush them softly,but thoroughly so as not to worsen the pain...and yes,after a few days,it won't feel as if you had braces at all!!!Health Question & Answer
Yes they are sore for the first 3 days or so but after a while the pain just goes away...as for brushing your teeth...it may hurt a little bit when you first get them on but after a while you might even forget your wearing braces!!!Health Question & Answer
