Root canal question! I need reassurance :[?!

Question: Root canal question! I need reassurance :[.?
I have an abscess in my chin from teeth grinding.

And they said I'll need 2 root canals in my 2 bottom front teeth.

Will it hurt.?
How long will it take.?
Will it be noticable.?
If it is noticable, can they do anything to fix that.?

You don't have to read this part: This abscess has come back several times, and they said the 4th time, we do the root canals. And im so scared of the root canals that I don't want to tell my parents that its back. Help.? :'(Health Question & Answer

RCTs in lower front teeth are quite easy for the patient and relatively easy for the dentist. You should have no problems.
Because your teeth have abscessed already, then the nerves are "dead", and you will have no problem achieving good anaesthesia. When people talk of painful RCTs, it is nearly always the molars at the back, particularly if the nerve is only half-dead.
I do not understand why anyone would wait 4 times before starting an RCT. An abscess will never go away completely until an RCT is completed. The short-term use of antibiotics do not cure abscesses, but only suppress them for a while. I'm glad to hear you're finally getting the proper solution - you will be so glad you did.
I also doubt that the abscesses are due to grinding. I have never seen this in a young person. In young people, abscesses of lower front teeth are usually due to a past sporting injury or similar, where a blow to the face has disrupted the blood supply to the teeth, causing them to die. Not that it matters, anyway.Health Question & Answer

Please do not be afraid of getting a root canal done. I am having two done also. Once you are numb you will not feel a thing. Dentists are not here to hurt us, but to keep our teeth healthy and people happy. A root canal usually takes about an hour and a half, two separate appointments. So an hour and a half each time. It goes pretty fast. Bring your Ipod or whatever and listen to that. It will not be noticeable as they will use whatever they have to make it just like your original tooth. Tell your parents about the abscess because they can be very dangerous to your body. You might as well just get it over with so you don't have to worry about it anymore.Health Question & Answer

are they sure the infection is coming from your tooth and not some other source.? Go for a second opinion before having the root canals done or you may still have the same problem. The procedure should not hurt, it will take about 1 hr. it will not be noticeable. If the tooth should happen to discolor they can do a crown or internal bleaching.Health Question & Answer

They gave me local anesthesia (numbing shot), so I didn't feel anything, but it was very sore for a day or two.
It took one of mine about 1.5 hours and another 3 hours, but the 3 hour one was done by a dentist-in-training at a medical school.
It shouldn't be noticeable at all once it's over.
I've put off telling my parents about cavities because I am terrified of the dentist, but that only makes it worse. Just tell them. I know it's hard, but you'll be better off.Health Question & Answer

i have had lots and lots of root canals. They do it in two visits. The pain will go away. You will not notice the root canals because they put crowns on them. After the root canal the pain is gone and will not come back because their is no roots left in your teeth. A root canal is the best way to be able to keep the teeth and not loose them.Health Question & Answer
