Question: Do you need to get a fluoride treatment after a dental cleaning.?
I am an adult. And it costs now $35.00 that my insurance will not cover. I just can't afford it. Please tell me if I need to and exactly why. What is the benefit.Health Question & Answer

Fluoride treatments strengthen the teeth. Topical fluoride is just as effective for adults as it is for children. The fluoride treatment that you get at your dentist is a strong dose of fluoride delivered to your teeth. It is definitely a benefit. If you cannot afford it, I recommend rinsing daily with a home fluoride rinse (like Act or Fluoriguard). After you brush and floss at night - rinse with fluoride.
