I may have missed an orthodontist appointment by several months. Help?!

Question: I may have missed an orthodontist appointment by several months. Help.?
My last appointment was in September. The receptionist hands out appointment slips, which I give to my grandparents to file into the family calendar. I've recently had a feeling, though, that my appointment was for November because it's been a long time. He usually sees me every month and a half to two months. My grandparents insist that he wanted to wait till the end of January because he's the type of orthodontist to avoid scheduling people around the holidays. The office hasn't called or sent any letters, but I'm still nervous about it. Before I make a phone call to the office, what sort of response can I expect if I DID happen to miss my appointment by several months.? Will there be fees.? Has he refused to call and send notices because orthodontists will drop your treatment if you don't show up.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
My ortho office always calls me the day before my appointment to remind me and have me confirm that I will be able to make it. I don't know if that is standard procedure for your ortho's office or not. Either way, I think if you did miss the appointment, they would call you and try to reschedule you. With fees, it also depends on the ortho office. Some charge for missed appointments, but mine does not.

They should not drop your treatment for one missed appointment, only if it happens all the time and they think you are not serious about getting treatment and are just wasting their time.

I do think it is a bit long from September til the end of January between appointments; the most I have heard of is 12 weeks (or 3 months). I would definitely call and see what they say.Health Question & Answer

the best thing to do is call.
i've missed appointments before, without realising so my dad rang up & told them why.
it's better than not calling or sending letters at all because then they will drop your treatment.
just call them & explain.Health Question & Answer
