I'm getting jaw surgery for my underbite?!
Question: I'm getting jaw surgery for my underbite.?
this summer.
I'm getting surgery on both of my jaws, I know that I have to stay overnight in the hospital.
Will someone, whose had this operation done already please tell me how much weight I will lose.
I'm already underweight (100 lbs, and I need to be 110 by the surgery to use my own blood after)
and how painful, and how long the swelling lasts, and how long you were on the liquid diet.?
Most importantly, did the outcome meet your expecation and was it worth all the pain/drama that it came with.?
I'm really really nervous, it's a long way to go, but I can't stop thinking about it. Plus, it's going to be my freshman year of college this fall.

Answers:
No, lower jaw surgery, or jaw surgery in general is not dangerous if your oral surgeon and institution is good.
I know quite few people who've had jaw surgery and isn't a big deal as they made it out to be. It's actually a very straight forward surgery. You'll feel some pain when you wake up, but the pain should subside 2-5 days.
You won't be able to open your mouth of course for about a week or so, and you'll probably eat liquidated food.Health Question & Answer
