How should I deal with this tooth?!

Question: How should I deal with this tooth.?
One of my upper central incisors is starting to show some form of tooth decay. There is a small spot on the tooth where the enamel is gone and now there is what I think is the dentin. I can tell because it is a slightly more transparent color than the rest of my tooth and it feels rough and it's not level (like a depression).

I just noticed it a couple of days ago and I'm confused as to how it came about. I got braces last September (2008) and my oral hygiene has never been better. I use a waterpik for about 2 minutes, brush for about 4-5 minutes, and then use a mouthwash.

How should I handle this and prevent any further decay.? Right now I am using ACT Mouthwash and also Arm & Hammer Fluoride + Liquid Calcium toothpaste.

Thank you!Health Question & Answer

From the description given by you, I can say that the spot appears to be dental caries/dental abrasion and you need to seek dental advice so that the same can be filled at the earliest. But, there is no cause of any anxiety as the cavity appears to be quite incipient and it can be managed very very easily.
But please definitely get a dental checkup.Health Question & Answer

you could be over brushing. when you over brush you brush away all the enamel on your teeth. its good to have good dental hygene esp. with braces. braces ruined my teeth, so be extra careful with them, especially if you have what they call soft teeth. try using an enamel builder to help strengthen and rebuild enamel. also have it looked at next time you go in.Health Question & Answer

It seems like you have chipped the tip of your tooth. The decay or cavity doesn't look transparent.Have your dentist look at it.Either he'll just smooth it out,or put a small filling.Nothing special.I mean he shouldn't charge you much for it.Health Question & Answer
