I have just had an upper tooth extraction?!

Question: I have just had an upper tooth extraction.?
I have just had my upper middle tooth extracted on the right side of my face. The tooth had broke away and rotted so there was a gap and only a dead root. I am worried because on inspection there seems to be no blood clot protruding. I had my lower molar taken out last week and there was a huge blood clot. I am worried that the blood clot has not formed even after biting down on the gauze for 20 minutes.

The bleeding has been small, And the only blood i am getting now is mixed in with Sylvia And it was taken out about 2 hours ago. I am worried about getting a dry socket as i have head how pain full they can be. And after having an abscess on the lower molar that was removed due to this i don't ever want to feel that sort of pain again.

Should there be a large blood clot on an extraction on the upper gum.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
no- dont worry, quite often the clot doesnt form straight away, and there seems to be a big hole... the best thing that you can do it to leave well alone- and by that i mean no poking, or looking etc. If you smoke---- DONT---- as this is the biggest cause of dry socket.

tomorrow start swilling around with some salty water, but today- leave well alone!

You will most likely get a blood clot and a bit of a bleed overnight.

if you think about it, if the tooth was dead there is unlikely to be much in the way of blood supply so it wouldnt produce a ' big clot' and the biting on gauze actually causes haemostasis, not bleeding, which you need for a clot.Health Question & Answer

Give your self 24 hours, eat only soft foods, if necessary and problems persist, see your dentist again tomorrow, but I fancy things will be better by then.rinse your mouth with warm salty water from time to time.Health Question & Answer

I didn't have one on mine when it was taken out and I was O.K.
Just keep swilling your mouth out with salt water or mouth wash if you have any.Make sure you have some pain killers at hand incase it gets painful later on.
I hope you're feeling better soon x

Maybe you should start the swilling tomorrow like Fran said.Health Question & Answer

sometimes there isn't a clot theres no rhyme or reason for it teeth are all different. don't worry make sure 1 day after having it out you do warm salty mouthwashes 3-4 times a day and you'll be fine. your dentist will get you in straight away if u do get a dry socket and it's really easy to cure they just put a small dressing in the socket and it's instant relief.Health Question & Answer
