After affects of root canal treatment?!

Question: After affects of root canal treatment.?
I am 31 years old and two teeth used to irritate for last 15 years.. sometimes i dont feel it sometimes I feel it a lot but not unbearable. Today I went to the dentist and he took an x ray found problem between those two teeth and he immediately did my root canal treatment without telling me that the teeth wont get any nutrition after root canal treatment is done. Then he started with the capping/ crown is also necessary after root canal and filling is done. I am so disappointed with the fact that my teeth will not be natural anymore at this early age..
Please share your experiences with root canal treatment.

Hi,
I'm an endodontist (root canal specialist) and have been asked this question many times. A root canal does remove the dental pulp which contains blood vessels and nerve tissue within the tooth. For this reason people refer to it as a "dead" tooth. This really isn't accurate because the outer surface of the root is connected to the tooth socket by a ligament that is very much alive. The dental pulp is essential when you are young and your tooth is developing. The dental pulp actually forms your tooth for you. This is why it is so important to protect the pulp in children's teeth. Fortunately, when your tooth has completed its development the dental pulp doesn't serve a vital function in maintaining your tooth. With a properly treated root canal and crown you should be able to keep your tooth the rest of your life.
Hope this helps.

hey man dont feel bad, im 18 and have had two root canals already.. but with my case my teeth hurt so bad that after effects were nothing but relief. Not a big deal really.. at least they dont have to remove the teeth!Health Question & Answer

Root Canal is a common procedure when your tooth pulp is already dead. You should not be afraid that it is not natural anymore. If you leave the tooth and don't treat it, it turns into an infection that can spread to the rest of your body. If your pulp was damaged and dying or dead, then the best thing for it, is to do a root canal.

I think there is an estimate that 50 percent of Americans, have had a root canal before the age of 50. I personally had my first one when I was 18 years old and have had 3 others since then. I didn't do a root canal on one when I was 30 and here I am 32 and they just had to pull the tooth out. I would much rather have a root canal than have my tooth pulled.Health Question & Answer

you are fortunate to get your teeth saved even though it was givin problem for the past fifteen years. root canal treatment is like mummifying a dead tooth so that it is not removed. in certain cases when there is a painful cavity in a tooth, then the only sensible option other than tooth removal is to remove the nerve supply to the tooth by doin a root canal treatment. It is more sensible if you visit your dentist every year for a check up and keep all your tooth filled up in the pit and fissures to avoid damage to the nerve of the teeth.of course after a root canal trt the tooth has to be covered by a crown or else both yours and dentit's effort goes waste.Health Question & Answer

Well, the x-ray showed that the tooth was already dead and has been for some time so it hasn't been getting any "nutrition' for a while. Don't worry, the tooth is surrounded by a whole bunch of nerves and blood vessels which will help it along. A tooth does get brittle after it dies though, so on back teeth, due to the biting forces on them, we always recommend that the tooth be crowned to help prevent it from breaking off. Front teeth are a different matter and a lot of the time don't need crowns. I have patients who have had root canals over 50 years and are still going strong and I even have one in my mouth from 1969 so you see, they can last.Health Question & Answer

I was 57 before I had my first and only r/c. The tooth was already crowned. He drilled right through it. Seven years later the crown broke off. Why was it loose.? Now I don't know what they'll do or how much it'll cost. I wish I had your problems: you just are concerned your tooth isn't natural.
Root canal treatment cuts off the blood supply to a tooth . You will NEVER HEAR THIS FROM A DENTIST. The blood supply is the nourishment it always needed.
My father always said, "dentists are the lowest form of human life." Just food for thought from a very old man.Health Question & Answer
