I am very nervous- getting tooth pulled!?!

Question: I am very nervous- getting tooth pulled!.?
I am getting a tooth surgery pulled today. I am not going to be put to sleep, because I get sick off of the meds that put you a sleep. I am terrified of dentists, and not good with pain. Please comfort me, and tell me it won't be so bad!!.?.? haha.

also, will I be able to work out after-weirds. I can't workout this morning, because I have class..then I have to get my tooth pulled.. but I am hoping to work out after-weirds. I really hate not getting my day work out done. ThanksHealth Question & Answer

I was very very nervous getting my 2 bottom wisdom teeth removed. :( I was all jittery in the chair.. I only had local anesthesia which is brave on my behalf because I would've been wanted to been put to sleep but I don't wanna risk not waking up after.. The procedure isn't that bad since your mouth is all numb you won't feel any pain, only a little pressure. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be in my head.

You will most likely should not work out after.. and after you most likely wouldn't want to anyways since once the numbness wears off you will be in some pain that you don't want to do anything but rest in bed.. and you should! :)Health Question & Answer

I hate root canals worse than I hate getting a tooth pulled which is why I opted to get rid of a back one. I figure I'll get a metal screw put in and another tooth and it will be good as new (and if I lose more in future they can add a whole row to that screw!).

I felt absolutely NOTHING. It took only a minute or two, and if you follow instructions (dont spit, rinse or drink with a straw the first day) you'll be just fine. I hate taking pain killers and all I did was take a few tylenol when I started feeling the freezing wear off and it felt like there was going to be pain but as soon as I took the tylenol the freezing left and there was no pain at all. I didn't need anything more after that.

So relax, it's a piece of pie. I figure the screw wont hurt either as you're frozen, they just screw it into the bone and that is that.

I think those poor folks who have 4 wisdom teeth pulled at once suffer more because their JAW is yanked around so hard and the pain is more from the jaw being strained than the tooth being pulled.Health Question & Answer

I know how you feel, I am scared to death of a dentist. I always get myself worked up before going and it ends up not being that bad. I had a tooth pulled a few months ago, I was nervous and scared and come to find out it wasn't really all that bad so don't be scared or anything, it will be ok. After your tooth is pulled you might want to just rest for a few hours and take it easy. Hope things go good for you!Health Question & Answer

Tell them to give you nitrous oxide (aka laughing gas or sweet air). This will put you in a disassociated state of euphoria so you wont feel the pain.Health Question & Answer

It's not that bad I had 4 teeth pulled in the same day without being put to sleep. I don't suggest working out though because you'll have an uber head-ache for like 2 days.Health Question & Answer

No worries and a day off is good for your body so don't sweat it. I hate dentists too so good luck and find your happy place...Health Question & Answer
