Is there a way to temporarily halt the decaying of a tooth?!

Question: Is there a way to temporarily halt the decaying of a tooth.?
I have a cavity in one of by primary molars. When I was younger, I was not as hygiene-conscious as I am now. My worst problems had to do with my teeth. I have had multiple problems with them. I brush my teeth twice a day and floss, but the only reason why I have the cavity is because it had started forming a while ago.

Since I know my parents will not be taking me to the dentist any time soon, I would like to know any ways to slow the decaying process until I can go - because I know I can't simply treat it at home. Please help.Health Question & Answer

Yes, you can delay the process of decay. Just make sure to brush and floss everyday. Unless the decay has reached the dentin (center of the tooth). Dentin is a softer tissue in the tooth and decay spreads very fast.

If your tooth starts to hurt it will be time to see your dentist :)Health Question & Answer

If you know you have a cavity on your tooth, you should get the decay out as soon as possible. Once infected, the decay will spread (how fast or slow will be depended on various factors like genetics, state of oral hygiene etc.) and once you get it into the pulp or nerve of the tooth, you're now looking at root canal treatment.

My advice, get it fixed as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the greater your chance of having a root canal.Health Question & Answer

No, you can't. Whenever the tooth becomes infected, it stays infected. The only way this can stop is by getting it drilled at the dentist.Health Question & Answer
