Question: Do dentists still pull teeth so you can get false teeth.?
my dh has really bad teeth, stemming from a auto accident when he was 18 and then a lifetime of avoiding the dentist (cuz he's afraid). he's got a flipper in the front to hide the fact he's missing 3 of his front teeth. the teeth on either side of the flipper both need root canals at about $750 each...thats with help from dental insurance.
now, here is our problem, were money not an issue, we would gladly spend the money and i would force him there to get every last tooth fixed up like new, even if it cost $10,000! BUT we are a 1 income family who are about to have our 2nd baby. his teeth are mostly for function at this point since NO one would say he has a beautiful smile (well except for ME! :) anyway, we don't have the money to pay upwards of a grand for each tooth to be rescued from its fate.
but every dentist (cosmetic) i look up, specializes in 'implants' and veneers! we don't have the money for that EITHER! those are as expensive as fixing the old tooth!
He and I just want the worst ones yanked and get a decent set of false teeth made...something that isn't too obvious. without breaking the bank.

Look under denturist in the yellow pages. Dentists will do anything to save teeth. Two dentists that I went to did not even pull teeth. They would bring in someone or send you to someone for that. It's riduculous that a dentist does not know how or refuses to pull teeth. I had to go to an old guy to get a tooth pulled. And think about it. They make less than a hundred dollars to pull a tooth vs the thousands trying to save a rotten hunk of shell. Go to someone who makes dentures. You should try getting a 2nd opinion from another dentist who might be more sympathetic to your needs. Just because a dentists yellow page ad may say implants and veneers does not mean the dentist does not remove teeth and replace them. Call around. Ask friends for a referral.Health Question & Answer
They painlessly take them out, by giving you novocain. You should find a dentist in your family who'll do it reduced...also it is for the rest of your life - so its a good investment. also if the car crash wasn't his fault, he should get teeth for free. There are dentists out there like Castle Dental that offer complete dentures for less than $1000. Maybe you could make payments to them.? It is getting tax season so maybe a refund could help you out.? I would call dental centers and dental schools around you and ask about payments and tell them what going on.
