Sharp throbbing pain in my tooth extraction?!

Question: Sharp throbbing pain in my tooth extraction.?
I had my tooth out on monday and everything was fine until yesterday. I keep getting these sharp throbbing pains every 15 Min's and that started yesterday night. The pain is not unbearable, And if it was constant i could probably put up with it!

The extraction its self was a hard one for the dentist because it was a top right molar and it broke into 6 peaces because it was rotten. And i felt a LOT of pressure on my gum when he pulled it out.

Now the pain is strange. I don't feel any pain when i eat drink or breath, But i feel pain when i cough or move in a certain position, The gum seems to be very sensitive to touch and so does under my cheek bone.

To make things worse i caught a bad cold virus yesterday and have a blocked nose with a Temperature and chest ache. So i feel awful.

Is it possible it could be a dry socket, Although looking at the symptoms my pain seems like nothing compared to what people say about them. Is it possible it is an infection.? Or just the healing.?

I cannot go see my dentist as he has gone away for the weekend but i will go se him on monday!

Sounds like it's infected. Do you have a fever.? Put ice on your jaw and call the Dr.'s office. Most have an "on call" Dr. that will call you back. He can prescribe antibiotics over the phone to your local pharmacy. I wouldn't play around with this 'til Monday! Take care and good luck!Health Question & Answer

Sounds as though your gum could be bruised and will possibly take time to settle. Worth having it checked when the dentist opens though if it is still troubling you, just to rule out any infection.Health Question & Answer

In the mean time, rinse with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda.Health Question & Answer

Sounds like an infection.. if the pain is bearable.
I`d advice you to do warm salt water mouth rinses every few hours or so..Health Question & Answer

Yes, it could indeed be an infection or it could be muscle strain around the face.. see your doctor.Health Question & Answer

i would say that ablood clot there is normal...it could just be healling,if you still feel pain on monday then i would definitely go back to the ddentist..in the mean time, take ibuprofen, have a chat with the chemist beforehand to make sure this is ok for you...they may suggest something more suitable....but i think if it had been me and i knew the dentist was going away for the weekend i would have reviewed the situation on thursday...maybe phoned dentist for advice...but hey goto the chemist for pain relief advice...Health Question & Answer
