Penicillin after tooth extraction?!

Question: Penicillin after tooth extraction.?
I had a wisdom tooth extraction a few days ago. I had to have it because it had cavities in it and I also was experimenting a lot of pain, which the dentist didn't know if it was coming from the wisdom tooth or another tooth I may need root canal. Anyway, I had the w.t pulled out and the dentist didn't prescribe any antibiotics, but the second day after the extraction I started to have excruciating pain that
would go up to my ears, it was horrible. I'm now on penicillin for 3 days now, I haven't had the horrible pain but today I noticed I'm a little dizzy, and yesterday my stomach felt weird, like nausea or something. Is it just the penicillin making me feel like that or something else.?

This sucks :(Health Question & Answer

Check you are and have been taking the correct dosage and you have spaced them out evenly throughout a 24 hr period. Do you have to avoid food with these.? Antibiotics generally kill all the good gut bacteria as well as the bad so try taking a pro biotic supplement like Yakult for the duration of the course. If the dizziness persists or you have any rashes stop taking the tablets and return to your doctor as you may have developed an allergy to penicillin.Health Question & Answer

Penicillin is an antibiotic. It treats infection. The infection likely caused you pain. While you pain is being relieved, continue taking the penicillin as described or it may come back.

also, I would regularly rinse your mouth and take Advil or Motrin for pain. While the penicillin treats the cause of the pain, it will not provide for temporary relief for it.

If the nausea continues or worsens, call your dentist/doctor and ask what to do.

Good luck.Health Question & Answer
