When I had mine put on and taken off, I didn't mind at all. It didn't hurt, you just feel pressure and pulling a bit. The thing I found worse was when they take a mould of your mouth because the stuff tasted a bit gross.Health Question & Answer

I had braces from the age of 13-17 years and really it doesn't feel all that bad. Depending on what type of brace you're given, the traditional braces can be a little uncomfortable for a few days after being attached and you may need to get some dental wax to allow any mouth sores to heal. I also had a quad helix brace to correct some crooked teeth and stop me from sucking my thumb (yeah I admit I was a thumb sucker lol!)

After a few years you'll most likely be given a retainer. A removable brace which helps keep your teeth aligned once your traditional braces have been removed. Its important that, when given this type of brace that you use them as directed by your orthodontist. Failure to do so could cause your teeth to regress back to what they were before the treatment.Health Question & Answer

well the cuffs hurt a bit (you can barely feel your teeth) but what gets me most is the annoying taste it has.

It hurts slightly when they tighten the braces but all the pain is very mild (it's like sliding your hand across a sticky table)

Hope this helpsHealth Question & Answer

Hi, I just had my braces taken off, i'm not gonna lie, it does hurt, but it's all worth it trust me. I had train tracks ontops and bottom, what they did was they put a tiny bit of cement on each tooth and then attached the brackets, from there they attach the wires, this is quite uncomortable, but trsut me i'm insanely afraid of the dentist, I got through it you shall too, then they act what colour elastics you would like, and they then wrap the wire to the brackets securely making a little cross shape. I went for silver, but some like bright colours.

What happened for me was it didn't hurt for a few hours, after i had mine fixed i went back to school for about an hour and then after another you ache quite a bit, I had 2 paracetmols every day to try and help, the most painful thing is trying to eat because putting pressure on them HURTS. They give you this wax thing as well incase its causing irritation. What I did was start off on really soft foods for the first few days, with stuff like yoghurt and soup and ice cream, and I found hot drinks like tea, were quite soothing, Then move onto slightly more solid stuff like bread and then eventualy you'll be scoffing your face like i did. You shouldn't worry too much, I got all worked up and when i think back there's worse things in life and you come out of it with nice straight teeth :)

Tightening is quite uncomfortable especially the first couple of times, all they do there is they undo the elastics and slide the wire out, this can be quite uncomftable, but not painful, then they insert a new one, the only real uncomfortable one i had was when she attaches links, if you've had teeth taken out, she'll put those in to close the gaps, and just the tightening of them hurt a bit on the first couple, but after that you're prepared for it, if you have an overhang or the other one where theres a gap between upper and lower, she'll put elastics in after about half a year to try and close that. Hope this all helps, just realised i've written a mini essay but hope it goes okay for you xHealth Question & Answer

Sorry to say, but yes.
Omg, when they get tightened, it really hurts a lot!!!
You get used to it after a while and it doesn't really hurt, but then they get tightened and it's like Uh-Oh!!!!
Lol good luck!!! It's DEFINATELY worth the pain, and i bet it's not as bad as it sounds!!! xHealth Question & Answer

Its not exactly sore, but it is a bit uncomfortable when they are fitted and each time they're adjusted. You get used to it in a few weeks when they're first fitted then after each time they're adjusted it only takes a few days.Health Question & Answer

They generally do not hurt when they are bonded since there is no moving involved... some sensitivity if you haven't had your teeth cleaned recently. There is some discomfort when they are "tightened"Health Question & Answer
