My sonic care tooth brush stinks?!

Question: My sonic care tooth brush stinks.?
Stinks as in has an odor. It's a few years old. I have replaced the head every six months. It smells like old water is trapped inside of it. Any ideas or solutions would be helpful. A new one cost over a $100, so I can't really afford to replace it.Health Question & Answer

Maybe old water IS trapped inside of it. Unscrew the head every so often, like once a week, and wipe the inside of the base with damp toilet paper or put it in the dishwasher. Scum tends to build up inside there, just clean it out and it should be fine.Health Question & Answer

A mild solution of vinegar and water will clean the outside and the opening into which you insert the new heads. No water can get trapped inside the body of the white holder. If you keep changing heads every 6 months, you should be fine. Whatever you do, keep using it. It's the best tooth brush for preventing gum disease and bad breath.Health Question & Answer
