Part of my tooth broke off last night?!

Question: Part of my tooth broke off last night.?
I'm 15 years old and I've had a few fillings over the years. Unfortunately, I have no recollection of which teeth had work done.

Last night, my little cousin and I were brushing our teeth. Before I brush, I floss. Well, I was flossing, and my right molar, second from the back, was a little difficult to get the floss out. I gently wiggled it out, and a good portion of my tooth fell into the sink. I was oblivious to it at first, until my little cousin reached into the sink and held the chunk in his hand saying "YOUR TOOTH!" I immediately told my Aunt and she took the chunk and said she'll call the dentist.

Well, unfortunately, my insurance hasn't been accepted by her company yet - so I'll be waiting until next week to get seen.

I've been eating lightly with it and when I do, I eat on the left side... trying to avoid food getting lodged into the 'crater.' After I'm done eating, I get a toothpick and gently pick out the remaining pieces of food.

There is minimal pain since I've been taking Motrin every few hours like my Aunt told me. Even though it still sends a sharp pain when I have a cold drink or something hot in my mouth.

Any ideas.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
You should go immediately to a dentist because bacteria that comes with food or air(breathing) can infect your teeth and lead to pulpitis and this lead to abscess that means surgery and extraction...:(
Of course don't take motrin for long times, max 3-4 days it's not a solution and for sure less medicines=better for health.Your pharmacist can prescribe sprays or solutions for reduction of dolours. So try to keep it clean and rinse your mouth with listerine and others... twice a day, it has antibacterial agents.

Hope to solve smth and good luck!!Health Question & Answer

you can buy temporary fillings from big chemists, its a paste that comes in a small tube like a toothpaste tube and you use it to fill the missing filling until you can get to the dentist, you should get your aunt to fill the missing filling as it would be hard to do it yourself.Health Question & Answer

you're doing everything right... just hang in there until you can get to the dentist... you could get a temporary filling material from the drugstore (it's like a wax to fill the space) but don't put anything else in the tooth.Health Question & Answer
