Swollen gums before and after extraction !?!

Question: Swollen gums before and after extraction !.?
Okay, my gums were swollen because of an abscess. Today i got the tooth out (molar) and the dentist gave me 2 injections inside the swelling and now its really sore and just want to be able to eat. Im being patient and waiting for my cheek to go down but my only problem is my gums :(!
Any home remedies or suggestions.? Thanks in advance :) xxHealth Question & Answer

If you are hungry, try eating. You will heal faster if you keep up your strength (sounds old fashioned and cliche, but it is so true!)

AFter a dental procedure some of my favorite things are ice cream (because it's cold and soft, and you can just allow it to get everywhere and it won't hurt anything, just don't eat any with nuts or chunks in it). I like a good soup that has a good liquid. If I'm using the can, I cook it for longer to make the "chunks" softer so that I can just eat them by pressing them against the roof of my mouth with my tongue (probably wouldn't eat a meat soup, as you would have to chew that more, I don't know as I'm vegitarian and have been for years:).

Or you could try a slightly sweetened ice tea, if you don't feel like you could handle these things. Just a bit of sugar will perk your blood sugar up a bit and give you some energy, and the cold will make you feel better.

Good luck on the waiting for the swelling! The answer before me has it all right about all the things you should do, just thought I could put my $.02 in about what you could try to eat.Health Question & Answer

Have had a lot of oral surgery and extractions making it hard to eat, and so have come up with a lot of ways to get around the pain and swelling :)Health Question & Answer

Soft foods for a few days :/

Stick to soups, bananas, jello things like that for at least 4-5 days. To keep the area clean rinse your mouth out with warm salt water, I know it taste God awful but it really does the trick. In the meantime your best bet is to take ibuprofen and place ice on the area of that's swollen.

Trust me, it'll get WAY better after 3 days =]

good luck!Health Question & Answer
