Start of root canal treatment?!

Question: Start of root canal treatment.?
My dentist started a root canal today and I have to go back in 2 weeks for him to re-evaluate it. First off what can I expect when the numbing wears off.? What do they do on the first appointment for root canal treatment.? Can a regular dentist finish a root canal.? Basically what can I expect.? Thanks! Any dentists help would be appreciated!Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Yes, a regular dentist can do a root canal. After the numbing wears off, you may experience some sensitivity in the area of the injection site. Others do not experience anything at all. At the first root canal appointment basically they take out the canal and flush out the infection really good with bleach water. It deadens the tooth so you shouldn't experience any pain in the tooth. Then they pack it with tiny cotton. When you go back in 2 weeks, they will fill it up the canals with filling material. Then it will need to be prepped and fitted with a crown.Health Question & Answer

i had the same thing as you a couple of weeks ago. go to an endodontist- they have the equipment for it.
My first appnt, i know he kept clearing the tooth- you could see those thin wires he kept putting up there, cleaning the roots.
The second visit, he continued cleaning, then packed the roots with the material they use for that.
I have a third root that is calcified, and he cant get through that one, so I'm goin back in a month and he's rechecking
Right now i have a temp filling, and when he's done with the tooth, i'll get a permanent put in by a regular dentist.
They give advil for pain if you need it afterwards. Mine was good.Health Question & Answer
