I have infected teeth can I give blood?!


Question: I have infected teeth can I give blood.?
I have infection in my 2 of my teeth .I had root conows done when i was 14, and same how they did not put them in right .By the time i was 18 they were infected.My mom made to much at that time to get medacaid.Medacaid is how i got this crap done.I am 22 now and I dont have any way to get it fixed.I must get the infcton out every 3 days.If I dontI get very sick. I push on the roof of my mouth and it shoots infection out of the frount of my gums ,it has made its own howl to get out.Infection shoots out and hits the merra every time.So I want to know if my red or white blood cells would be to high or to low to give blood. I want to help people that are worse off than my ,and i dont want to make them any worse.Please help if you canThanksHealth Question & Answer

Actually, no, you can't donate blood if you have an active infection. The other person who answered was mistaken. Your infected/abscessed teeth could be a serious health risk to you if as bad as you state. It could be a lot worse than just making you feel sick (the infection can also affect your heart or could get so bad that it kills you) -- can also be a health risk to others. If it is as bad as you've described, it is not safe for you to be managing this condition on your own and you could be putting others at risk even if you don't donate blood.

The Red Cross states that you are not eligible to donate blood with an active infection, especially one that is raging out of control with no attempt at professional treatment.

Please get this taken care of if it's as bad as you say, and please don't try to donate blood until the infection is completely gone.Health Question & Answer
