Question: Having wisdom teeth removed with heart condition.?
I have a heart condition called mitral valve prolapse and have to get my wisdom teeth out. I heard that you can't go under the regular medication, why.? If I can't go under the regular stuff what will I have to take/do.?Health Question & Answer

If you are having your teeth removed with a local anesthetic you will have to be pre-medicated with antibiotics, such as amoxycillin, before the surgery. Are you on any other medications for your heart, such as blood thinners or beta blockers.? The dentist should be made aware of this also so the proper precautions can be taken and also some drugs have problems if used with IV sedation. Talk to the dentist or your doctor.
