Heard a crack in my lower left molar while chewing?!

Question: Heard a crack in my lower left molar while chewing.?
I was chewing a bagel sandwich this morning and when I bit down I heard a cracking noise in my back lower left molar. There was also a little twinge of pain, it doesn't hurt unless I press my tongue against it or bite down. Did I break my tooth on the inside.? I'm probably going to need a root canal, aren't I.? I've never broken a tooth before, so I'm not sure I did, and I'm curious as to what the dentist will do.? Thanks for your help!Health Question & Answer

you probably cracked the tooth but you might have just bruised it. get into the dentist ASAP. you'll probably need a crown and sometimes that also requires a root canalHealth Question & Answer

It probably isn't a broken tooth, and if it is, it's definitely not broken inside. The insides of our teeth have lots of very sensitive nerve endings, and if it breaks, we feel lots of pain. That's why toothaches hurt so much. I wouldn't worry about it, but if it persists, you should see a dentist. Hope it helps.Health Question & Answer

Get the dentist to check it out. The week end is coming up what are the odds it is going to hurt over the week end about 90%Health Question & Answer
