Hi, I'm 26 and my wisdom tooth has been killing me for a few days. It is visible and not impacted at all. It has a hole in it and I think it may be rotten.I made an appointment to have it removed on Monday and I was quoted 600 bucks, just for the one tooth. It seems like a lot for the 1 tooth...Do you think I should keep looking around for a better price or is this somewhat the norm in pricing.? This price does not include sedation either, only local anesthesia. I don't have dental insurance so I'm paying out of pocket. Help!Health Question & Answer

It's hard to say without knowing more. Is a specialist taking the tooth out.? Does the x-ray show difficult roots which would require the tooth to be taken out in several pieces.? Live in UK so not sure if 600 bucks is expensive. Dental treatment is expensive in UK too. However, its always best to check other dental surgeries for their prices. I have had all my wisdom teeth out and only had anaesthetic I was not put under sedation so I guess it depends on how damaged the tooth is from any decay. This can weaken the tooth and it could 'break up' during extraction. I think this would be the only reason you would need to be put under. Ask around is my suggestion.Health Question & Answer
Hey, that sounds like a bargain to me, I had all four of mine removed at one time....cost me 3,000 dollars.
