How come this happened to my bench press?!
Question: How come this happened to my bench press.?
In like July, I did a max bench of 195lbs, but that's it, I haven't worked out for about 6 months..I just randomly put that up. Last week, I could only bench 135lbs.
Was it just a bad day, or did I lose strength from not working out, or both.?
I did bench the 195 on a Powertec leverage machine, but the machine adds 15lbs to whatever you do and you subtract 10% of your total bench because of the leverage. This gave me an end result of 195lbs benched. I was only able to do 135 on the free weight bench with a bar, but my max on that was like 145-150 last year. Who knows...Health Question & Answer

I would have to say that if you have not worked out since July and are just now getting back into it more than likely you did lose a bit of strength.
Although due to muscle memory you should have very little trouble in making up your lost strength in no time. Just follow a good routine and a healthy diet, trying to eat at least a gram of protein per pound of body weight.Health Question & Answer

6 months off will reduce your strength of course..it will come back pretty quick if you are consistent.Health Question & Answer
