Not eating healthy food in moderation AND working butt off?!
Question: Not eating healthy food in moderation AND working butt off.?
I work out every day, burn up 1000 calories (I make myself do 1,250 on treadmill, so give or take, I know I am definately burning 1000) on incline speed walking.
My body looks much firmer, but I cant stop myself eating a whole packet of trail bars which are basically 500 calories whole box, 5 g of fat. I eat heaps more, not chocolate or fatty foods, but lots of foods that are classified as low fat, I know I should stop this or I may be working out for nothing. I think I am eating over 2000 calories a day, but I cant help it i am so hungry, but doing an hour of working out a day cannot make you fat can it despite over eating healthy food.? I am not eating this stuff 'in moderation' and yes I know you will say I should, but what if I eat not in moderation, all the healthy food i want i.e whole grain bars, cereal, low fat yoghurt - please dont say in moderation! Are you getting enough protein.? All of the foods you listed are high in carbs but not in protein. Many low-fat foods are high in carbs. Carbs will give you energy in the short-term, and then you'll be hungry again quickly. Eating carbs and protein together is the way to quell hunger -- the carbs provide the energy quickly, the protein burns off slowly and stays with you longer.
I would suggest ALWAYS eating carbs and protein together. If you're going to eat an apple (carbs) for a snack, eat a low-fat cheese stick (protein), too.
Take a look at the labels on the trail bars you're eating. I bet they have some protein, but a lot more carbs. A serving of protein is 7 grams. A serving of carbs is 15 grams. I've seen healthy, low-fat bars that offer 4 grams of protein and 46 grams of carbs -- that's way out of balance, and you're going to get hungry again soon if that's what you're eating.
You might also benefit from using an online tool to help you plan a more balanced diet for awhile. Once you get the hang of it, you can go it alone. Good luck! (And congratulations on working out so much! That's where I struggle!)Health Question & Answer
