It's going to be very difficult to drop substantial weight with zero exercise. I'm sure you've heard this before but exercise is important not just for weight loss but for general health. It doesn't have to be fancy gym work, just take the time for a 30 minute walk every day during lunch. That would have a big impact.

Based on experience I'd recommend making small changes first. If you do a complete overhaul to your diet and lifestyle you'll set yourself up to fail. For example, do you drink non-diet soda.? Stop. Do you drink coffee or tea with cream and sugar.? Leave out the cream and sugar. Personally I rarely drink anything but water but again, don't make huge changes right away.

Avoid the low-carb diets. I think they are unsustainable and unhealthy for the long term and what you need is a lifestyle that will gradually peel away the pounds. Any diet that says don't eat fruits and vegetables can't be good for you.

Breakfast should be the largest meal of the day, or close to it. Have a snack before lunch, a decent sized lunch, a small snack before dinner, a normal dinner, then stop. There is a myth that you should never eat carbs after 6p or something silly like that. Ignore that. But, once you finish dinner, be done for the day. That's another way to cut calories. You can help control hunger by spreading your calories out over the day, that's why I recommend the snacks.

For the record, my BMI is 18.5 and body fat is 8.5%. But, I exercise about 8 hours a week.Health Question & Answer

Hello, are you for real.? Lose substantial weight without exercise.? Are you living in a dream world.? Have you been watching The Biggest Loser.? Probably not. Busy or not you NEED to exercise to see any good results and feel good. There is no way you will lose a lot of weight and keep it off without exercise. If you work 9 to 9 then get up at 7 am and go to the gym then or go for a run or walk in your neighborhood. We are all busy but you need to be kind to yourself and make time for yourself. Its the only body you have, treat it right.....

I can feel your pain, doing a 9 to 9 is tough. Trying to fit in exercise is very hard. If you're going to get down to a healthy weight you should try to get in some exercise.

The only other option I would recommend, that will work is to get Tom Venuto's burn the fat book and follow the nutritional guidelines and diet plans to the letter.

I would suggest a cleansing diet. I lost 12 pounds in 9 days and then 28 pounds in less than a month. I also lost a lot of inches too! I learned that cleansing will help the body get rid of toxins. Toxins come from a lot of things like fast food, pollution, food additives and preservatives and lots of other things. The toxins get stored in the fat in our body. To get rid of the fat, we have to get rid of the toxins by cleansing the body. This made sense to me and I decided to try a cleanse program and it worked. The weight came off fast and this kept me motivated to keep going, not like other diets where the weight loss it too slow. I did Jenny Craig, Weight Watcher and Medifast. Good luck whatever you decide to do! http://diet4cleansing.tripod.com

If you're doing a 9 to 9 surely then you'd have at least 3 days off each week, and fitting in a few hours of intensive exercise on even 1 of those days would be a help. Sorry if it sounds like I am criticising you, I'm not!!Health Question & Answer
