I don't see anything wrong with reading food labels at 14. Majority of America is overweight because we don't pay attention to that stuff, so there is NOTHING wrong with being educated about what you put in your body. Working out is great too, as long as you don't over do it. It's not bad to be weight conscious, but when people obsess about it to a certain point it can lead to eating disorders. The norms for a 'self inquiry', are: 'am i healthy -- do i have energy, enthusiasm, normal levels of joy&happiness in routine life and activities.?' ;; 'am i reasonably pleasant in looks, in behaviour, and helpful around, without being dependent too much.?'.
