Hello. I have anorexia with exercise addiction. I am trying to recover. I stop doing hardcore exercises and been eating a bit more. I really don't want to be "flabby" when I gain weight back.

I was thinking about doing a hour class ( either body step, body pump, body combat) everyday ( or most days) and swim about 4 times a week for 30 mins and walk 2 hrs once a week with my mom.

Before I was running about 13 miles a day. Since I am reducing my works outs so much, will I get flabby.? Or will the classes and swimming still keep me tone.?Health Question & Answer

First of all congradulations on your recovery. I am a recovered anorexic as well... (then again do we ever fully recover.?) I know how hard this is going to be when you begin to gain weight, just remember that you are adding years to your life and increasing the posibility that you will be able to have children in the future. You are also going to feel a lot better when you are at a healthy weight. Hopefully you will realize that the pain you were in was not worth the damage done to your body. I was anorexic for 4 1/2 years and have been in recovery for 4. I still have a lot of bad habits but I realize that going back will likely kill me.

Anyways, on to your question. No you will not get flabby. Quite the opposite possibly. Since you will be eating and that means getting protein you will likely get more muscle tone. I am assuming that you were not eating enough to allow your body to build muscle before and you are likely "skin and bone" considering your running habbit. But I do not know your body... I suggest that you cut eiter the swimming or the hour class. Thats still a lot. If you just cannot bring yourself to do that than maybe do class one day and swim the next. Or do both for now and try to cut back later into your recovery. You will keep toned and probably be even more toned when you eat right and cut back on the cardio.

When it comes to eating, try mypyramid.gov to tell you how much from each food group you need to eat. It may seem like too much but try to build slowly. Don't try too much to quickly because that will only delay your recovery. Health Question & Answer

You can safely cut your exercise program in half dear and still will look well toned... I don't think "flabby" is actually in your bodies dictionary.
Quit looking for an excuse to return to your "addiction"... because that is what you are doing...

"I will only do this much because I don't want to look flabby and this has nothing to do with what I used to do because I was addicted to exercise and overly concerned about my body weight...

There's no point in beating up yourself up so much as the idea behind exercises is to break down muscle so that your body can repair itself when you rest. When you're working out so much to the point of exhaustion, you're body is trying repair rather than building muscle so that you get stronger. -hence why it's better to run 1 mile for five days rather than 5 miles 1 day per week.

Answer: the wealthy.

This is because they attributed wealth as the means to their happiness and when they became rich. The had a hard time couping with why they are still not happy.

What i'm getting at is you are attributing happiness and your physical attraction.

When a person is happy with themselves, there's a glow and aura that is beyond anything cardio and dieting will ever get you.

I think it's great you're getting out of the LIVING HELL that is anorexia. God, I know just how you feel, it's so scary to excercise less. So I'll say 2 things:

1) no you will not get "flabby" when you under eat and overexercise you are less strong than when you eat and excercise right. I have run my fastest mile times since I stopped being an unhappy anorexic wreck and gained some weight.

2) You will have moments where you'll think you're flabby. anorexic people have a distorted way of seeing things and it never goes away totally. Now and then I feel so *huge* and awful-- but I'm getting better at being less stupid about this. It takes a long time.Health Question & Answer
