Question: What special diet should a patient have when one of his kidneys is cut off because of kidney canceer.?
After the operation, I'm not sure whether the patient should eat or not eat sme special things which will influence the function of kidney, because there is only one kidney left.Health Question & Answer

I had a kidney transplant so I only have one working kidney and before that when I was on dialysis I had to be on a renal diet, which was low sodium & potassium basically. Although I do not have to stick to that diet and definitely don't need to limit myself as much I still try to stay away from sodium. In fact I have become crazy about it - reading labels etc lol but salt is hard for the kidneys to break down, so I try to stay away from that.
