What's a good race day breakfast?!
Question: What's a good race day breakfast.?
Tomorrow I have a cross country meet, and I'm wondering if anyone has any good suggestions for breakfast. I need something that's going to fuel me up for a really hard run! I have about 3 hours between breakfast and the race.
Oh, and I'm a vegetarian so no meat :) thanks.Health Question & Answer

The best thing to do before a long race is fuel up the night before. Have lots of carbohydrates...as the previous answer said, but do it the night before.
The morning of, usually it's best to eat lightly. What is actually best is to find out in advance what works best for your body, by eating, going for a run and see how it effects you....
However, you do have three hours. So, you want to eat a healthy breakfast, but not too heavy. Because even after three hours, a heavy meal will be with you too much.
I think what i would do, since you have time, is eat a fairly normal healthy breakfast ...whatever you like...toast, yogurt, fruit..banana..whatever you usually like, but nothing too heavy like porridge....
and then an hour before the race, if you think you need a little something...have something very little...some toast with no peanut butter, for example....
Good luck on your race!!!Health Question & Answer
