How come I'm not losing weight as working out 4x a day cardio and strength, eating healthy under 1,300 cals?!

Question: How come I'm not losing weight as working out 4x a day cardio and strength, eating healthy under 1,300 cals.?
It's been about 5 months of my exercising and eating under calories (1223 per day) and weight loss is only 2lbs.
I eat brown rice (jasmine brand) my main course everyday of the week about a cup, take in lots of greens (salad) and some small portion of pork, chicken though not every meal. Lets just say typical asian meal which I grew up eating consisting of much veggies and little meat mix with rice, most are not fried either.
One thing is I don't sweat easily and it takes a long time, which I'm not sure if that's one factor too
I do my stretching and exercise everyday, is there possibly something unbalance as in immune system. It doesn't make sense.

alright i took a quick look over what u wrote and i saw a few problems here and their with what your trying to do... if your main goal is to "lose" wait then i would reduce on strength training because muscle weighs more then fat, what that means is u actually are losing body fat just your replacing it with heavier muscle. another mistake your making is reducing your caloric intake down to 1223, which makes means your not eating every 2-3 hours and by starving ur body from the extra 2 meals a day u should be having and not in taking 1,800 calories your body goes in to a state of self preservation which slows your metabolism down making u not lose weight efficiently. the other mistake i see is including pork into your diet, pork is the worst meat you can eat because it is highest in fats that take the longest for your body to use. for me to give u a really good work out routine and to really Annalise what u should be doing for maximum weight lose while keeping your body healthy (none of those carb starve crap diets, or south beach stuff) Send me an email at John350z@aol.com, or IM me at John350z on AIM.Health Question & Answer

Im not really sure when it comes to calorie count. But i just recently started to workout and I was walking Extreme Makeover and the trainer on the show said that when you are doing cardio, the best care to loose weight is to be on the treadmill for atleast 30 minutes walking at a good pace and doing long strides. I started to do that and I really saw the difference within 1 week and I diet as well. Alot of romaine lettuce with tuna, chicken, or veggie burgers. Hope it helps !Health Question & Answer

If you are already thin then you wont lose much noticeable weight at first. What is happening is that you are probably Gaining MUSCLE, which weighs more than fat. But muscle helps burn calories even when you arent working out!
So basically it sounds like you are toning up (gaining muscle). Keep it up and you will eventually look even healthier and be stronger.Health Question & Answer

You say brown rice and then you say you eat asian meal mixed with rice... brown or white.? - and you eat small portions of meat.

Secondly, are you getting enough protein for your genetic disposition.? Are you half or full asian and if so, what ancestry.? Because, you may not do well on the diet you are eating and may need more protein and less carbs.

Working out could make you lose muscle if you are not eating enough protein to replace the muscle tissue.

Lastly. Why are you using a scale instead of a tape measure.? Think about this, because Its not about losing weight, its about losing inches.

Why.?

The scale isn't going to tell you how much muscle and bone you've increased in ratio to fat loss. Fat is light and fluffy. Muscle weighs about 3 times more per cubic inch to fat. So, if you gain any muscle you will gain some weight. So, focus on how clothes fit you.

Let me know if you would like a test to take at home to find out your genetic disposition as to how many carbs versus protein you should be eating as its more accurate than a blood test.

You can IM me for it.Health Question & Answer

Well I'd look at a couple things. First, if your exercise routine doesn't get you sweating a lot, you might not be exercising hard enough. Different people sweat different amounts, yes, but if you're working really hard, you will sweat! Gradually ramp up the difficulty and duration of your exercises. When you get to 20 reps, add 5 more, then 10, etc. If you're heart isn't pumping fast, you're going too easy. Obviously make sure it's safe for you to do this with your doctor, first.

A big key for many (but not all) people is to eat smaller portions more frequently and don't be afraid to reward yourself every so often. If you're exercising regularly, and exercising hard, you're going to need to eat more than 1200 calories a day. If you don't eat enough, you won't have the energy to work hard enough to burn fat.

And by the way, don't worry about just losing weight! Maybe you've been building some muscle too while you've been losing fat -- you have to watch your body fat percentage to really see if your hard work is paying off.

As for your diet, really examine how much sugar you're taking in. Are you eating sweet and sour pork/chicken.? Do you drink soda.? Is it diet.? Keep in mind that for many people, diet soda actually increases the appetite and tends to make your cravings for sweeter foods intensify. Try incorporating tomato juice or flavorful, lightly-sweetened or unsweetened teas into your diet.Health Question & Answer

First off, it depends on your version of cardio. If you aren't getting your heartrate up to the target rate, you aren't going to burn a good amount of calories.

Second, muscle is heavier than fat. So if you start building a good bit of muscle mass you can weigh the same amount but be leaner. For example, after my knee surgery I weighed 181 and you could see that I had a good bit of weight because my face looked "fat" (I'm a male and 5'8"). However, now I weigh 185 but I have 10% body fat and am clearly in shape. So I weigh 4 pounds more but I'm actually in better shape.

Lastly, how long have you been doing this routine.? It takes time to see results, it's not an overnight process. Plus, there are other factors. Since you're a woman, if you're on your period you could be retaining water, etc.Health Question & Answer
