Answers:
well, the first thing i started doing was running. i started about every other day, and built up from there.
i currently am not on marathon status- i am getting ready for a 10mile race.
i train about 4-5 days a week. i started slow- like about 1 mile, then built up from there.
2 days a week, i run long runs. i'm up to currently abut 5-6 miles. this is what i'm doing right now:
short fast run (anywhere from 1.5mile to 2 miles.)
long run (currently up to 5miles)
crosstrain(elliptical, upright bicycle and a little weight training)
short fast run(6 miles- pushing for another one next week)
long run
the weight loss will come with it. believe me! i've lost 10 lbs already, the race is 4 weeks away, so i'm expecting to lose at least 5 more lbs by then!
i eat a lot of fruit, vegetables, soy milk... things of that nature. i'm a vgetarian, so my food source is a little limited, but i've been doing great!
just start out slow. on the long run dys, you could do interval training (run fast for a short period, then jog at a little bit than slower pace for twice as long) and if you may not be up to that point- you can run/walk interval training.
good luck!Health Question & Answer

Firstly, start preparing atleast 7-8 months in advance.
You should follow a strict regimen. A good and controlled diet with lots and lots of water and fruits. Avoid beef, pork, mutton, mayonaisse and all that greasy stuff. Start walking/jogging for an hour and a half in the morning and in a month you will definitely feel the difference.
Follow a 5-meal system:
A heavy breakfast in the morning, followed by snacks(preferably fruits) at 11am, followed by a moderate lunch, a snack again at 4pm and finally a decent dinner.
I did this and lost 12 kgs in a month and 16 kgs in all. also it will give you the energy and will-power to last a marathon. Wish you all the best!Health Question & Answer
