Crunches get you no where.

Do 50 Crunches Each day with alternating hands / elbow to the opposite leg. That way you build your middle and side parts of your abdominal muscles.
Then do 50 Leg Raises.
Lie down on flat ground then take your feet together, put your hands by your side flat on the ground then take your feet and raise them up, hold it for a second or 1/2 and then bring them down do this to strengthen and build your lower abs muscles.
Do 50 or however many push ups you can do. That helps to build your chest and your abs and many other muscles in your body. There are plenty of variations around so for that look around the web.
And if you want to make it harder though the most effective and best way to build up abs is to sit at an incline. Lie down at an inclined bench with your feet on the higher part. and do 50 of the Left and Right elbow to knee crunches. Do them as fast as you can and that way it will build up and loose the extra fat over your muscles.

Hope it helped...

EDIT: Oh forgot, you need to do cardio at least 3 times a week for about 20 minutes at high intensity. Do interval sessions that way it is more effective. though running, jogging, or walking all work out good. I do it 5 times a week but that is just my choice. Cardio is needed to loose fat and get your body running before doing any exercises...Health Question & Answer
