Losing weight while on antiseizure meds?!

Question: Losing weight while on antiseizure meds.?
I have been "upped" from 2,000mg of Keppra to 3,000 and I had already gained 50 pounds in a year (no like) and within a month I have gained another 6. I know it will not stop and I workout so hard but nothing happens because of Keppra.

Am I just wasting my time.? Should I just give up.? I'm about to just starve myself! Thanks.Health Question & Answer

I can totally see how frustrated you'd be to know that your medication is causing you to gain weight. Have you talked to your doctor to see if there is a different drug you could try that wouldn't have the same side effect.? My cousin is on strong anti-seizure drugs too but hers don't have that effect. I don't know what hers is though, but they must be out there (although I'm sure different people need different things.) Anyway, to answer your question...don't give up and don't starve yourself! Carry on with healthy eating habits and regular exercise just the way you would if you were seeing great results. These things are good for your body and promote general well-being. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

It's a drug that makes havoc with your hormones. Sorry your going through this. You HAVE TO eat.

Google Montiff and then get their enzyme products. This will help you. I've seen over 10 years of results with people who are on your type of med or meds because they've been able to decrease the amounts needed and we can all use less side affects, right.?
