Is juice fasting healthy?!


Question: Is juice fasting healthy.?
If I were to juice fast on Martinelli's organic apple juice and water only (for about a week) would that be healthy and maybe help out on a few pounds.? I want to cleanse myself for a week and it would be an extra bonus to lose some weight with it.
If anyone has juice fasted for a week, could you tell me if this is a healthy idea.?

My Girlfriend did Juice Fasting, she has a nice juicer and was able to use a variety of fruits and vegetables in it(yum, green pepper and carrot juice). I was very skeptical and still am. I don't think Juice fasting for a week is healthy, even with a variety of fruits and vegetables. The three symptoms my GF had that lead me to believe this are
Lack of Energy
Head aches
Stomach aches

There is a reason we eat solids! You may lose weight, but you will probably gain it back. I understand juice fasting for a day, or occasionally as a meal replacement, all vegetable and fruit juices are high in nutrients. But your suggestion of just apple juice and water has red flags all over it. Your body requires a lot of essential amino acids and proteins that you can't get from just juice. And limiting yourself to one fruit is even worse.

Go ahead and try it, you might want to take Metamucil when you do, Yes insoluble fibers are important even if you don't get anything out of them. Your bowels will thank me. If you do juice fast, listen to your body, and be smart! Stop if you feel you need to. When you go back to solids, ease into it, don't eat anything that will upset your body to much. If you are serious about losing weight, its about being active, more then anything else.

That's not a healthy idea. If it's organic juice they don't really add all that extra UNhealthy stuff. If you want to fast, fast on junk food. That would be healthy. also don't drink soft drinks. That will help you lose weight.

PS. If you want to feel all clean inside, just eat medium amount of food for breakfast, a lot for lunch and very little for dinner. And healthy meals. Good luck.... um... feeling clean inside!Health Question & Answer
