Is my sleep schedule unhealthy?!

Question: Is my sleep schedule unhealthy.?
Okay, I am a junior college student in engineering. With the amount of work I've been getting I sleep about 4 hours a night and squeeze in 1-3 hour naps when I can. I am just wondering what if any the difference between a full night of sleep and breaking it up like this will have. I really don't know if I am tired or not anymore because I am hoped up on caffeine all the time anyway.Health Question & Answer

If you have to always be drinking coffee or even worse, energy drinks, then you are not getting enough sleep and sustenance.

Splitting up a sleep schedule is not to bad, as long as you do it responsibly and get the right amount and the right cycles.

For myself, as well as most people, A solid 8 hour block of sleep every day is great (cept i love to sleep so weekends I sleep 10 or more just cuz).
But I can also be just as good at a 7 hour block a day. Of course, I also go to jc, tossing in an hour nap here, or goin to bed early once in a while is just nice, but not needed.

getting 4 hours a night and a one hour nap a day is not enough to keep you goin healthy.

getting 4 hours a night and getting a 3 hour nap every day is perfectly fine, as long as you don't keep skipping naps or such.

I would say blocks of sleep should be AT LEAST 2.5 hours. You need to get your required cycle that takes 90+minutes (some say 2 hours.?) for your body to get "rest." So, three 2.5-3 blocks, one 4-5 block along with another 3 hour block, or one solid block of 7+

again, dude you shouldn't be drinking coffee and/or energy drinks every day, contrary to what the advertisements, and probably some of your peers encourage.Health Question & Answer

What you're doing is really rough on your body. You can't maintain that forever.

Try to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night. You're not a wuss or a pansy for saying you have to go sleep. Getting 4 hours of sleep is just not healthy.

I was reading something where someone likened our praise of people not sleeping to praising people for not taking a dump.

"Hey, Greg, I haven't gone for three days. Been packing in the cheese." "What, just three days.? Come on, Luke, I've gone five with no problems."

If you have a bad sleep cycle -and you do- you'll just feel like crap. You're probably used to the physical symptoms -muscle soreness, for one- and you're probably masking the mental effects with caffeine.

Wake up at the same time every morning and go to bed when you get tired. Stay off the computer -or at least a computer that you can have fun with- after 10 or 11, and go to sleep when you're sleepy.

You should take a weekend to detox and crash. It will suck then but it'll be better for you for the rest of the year.Health Question & Answer

it actually is because you should be getting atleast 7 hours a night. try to develope a sleeping schedule even though you probably feel like it's impossible, but to help you relax at night you shouldn't be in too much light, dont do anything that makes you energetic or drink coffee at night and cafine is really unhealthy for you... it could cause a lot of stress and just a lot of unhealthy reactions in your body from not getting enough sleepHealth Question & Answer

well it depends on how deep of a sleep your getting. 4 hours may not be enough to get up rested. also when you take short naps your body may be in deep sleep but get jolted out of it because you have to get up. usually follow your gut and what your body tells you. if your constantly tired and will crash without caffeine theres your answer: unhealthy.
8-9 hours of sleep is choice. Health Question & Answer

6 hrs would be much better for your Body.Your immune system is down I sm sure form lack of sleep and you will end up getting more cols and flu than if you would sleep more. The naps you are getting is good. But you really ned a good night rest.Health Question & Answer

it's much better to actually get a full nights sleep than breaking it up. if you just take 3 hour long "naps" throughout the day you will never get any REM sleep which is basically the most important part of your sleep.Health Question & Answer

It is bad to have that kind of sleeping schedule.
At least you get to take a power nap but consider squeezing in a full day of sleep at least during the week.Health Question & Answer

It probably isn't that healthy that you're not sleeping for more than 4 hours at a time, you should try to fix your schedule so that you get straight up 7-9 hours of sleep.Health Question & Answer
