Why am I hungry 1 hour after I eat?!?!


Question: Why am I hungry 1 hour after I eat.?!.?
I'm overweight I will admit that but this is absolutely insane... It started about 2 weeks ago. I eat something big (like today! i ate practically a whole box of macaroni and cheese!) and about an hour later I have that empty stomach feeling. It hurts kind of and it makes me feel sick. So I eat something small to ease the pain but that only lasts for a little while. Does anyone know whats going on.? Are there certain foods I can eat that will make me feel fuller for longer.? This happened to me constantly when I pushed myself into a diet program I had come up with myself. Essentially your stomach is demanding more food for energy into of using the reserves (IE: stored fat.) It is also true that if you consume simple carbs as already mentioned, you will feel hungry again more rapidly then usual.

I have trained myself to simply ignore my stomach and the feeling will eventually pass however this takes some amount of will power and frankly isn't easy to adapt unless you push yourself. What to do is trick your stomach until you feel you are able to outright ignore it when this happens.

Some effective ways means are: Drinking a soft drink. Due to the bloating effect that is common in soft drinks, this can deceive the stomach in believing you consumed food. However only drink diet otherwise you are drinking empty carbs and no need for that. also limit yourself since water/tea is always the best option; both which can also trick your stomach but less so.

Another good trick is crackers. A couple crackers can be quite helpful in making your stomach believe it is full. There are a certain type of Baguette crackers (I don't have the name unfortunately but Baguette is painted right on the box in huge letters) that definitely do the trick. if you eat something small that doesn't have a lot of carbohydrates in it, your body will not have enough energy. it's like when you eat a candy bar after grocery shopping and you're so hungry, it holds you over for 15 minutes while you make your way home for dinner. try eating smaller portioned meals, but more times a day. make sure you are eating carbohydrates like bread, pasta, etc. you also should do some exercising. if this is still a problem, ask your doctor!Health Question & Answer

You should eat more complex carbs, the ones in macaroni are simple carbs, which generally cause you to get hungry again sooner. Complex carbs have more fiber than simple ones, and more fiber = fuller longer. Each meal/snack you eat should have a mixture of protein & carbs. Try eating more whole grains (whole wheat pasta, bread, crackers, brown rice), fruits, veggies, lean meats and low fat dairy.Health Question & Answer
